Patricia Maher

Patricia Maher is the Survey Director for the University of Michigan data collection activities and is responsible for the overall management operations and development and support of the related technical systems, working with Drs. Steven Heeringa and Sandro Galea. Ms. Maher received a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan, and a MS in Organizational Leadership and Administration from Concordia University (expected spring, 2009).

Ms. Maher is the Associate Director for Survey Research Operations at the UM Survey Research Center. She is also a certified Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute. Ms. Maher has held various leadership positions at the Survey Research Center and has developed many technical and data collection protocols for in-person and telephone interviews.

Her interests include interviewer training methodologies, respondent cooperation and communication techniques, and production data collection management. She has nearly 20 years experience in survey research operations.

Her work on disaster studies included Attitudes on Terrorism Preparedness Planning New York Academy of Medicine and the Kellogg Foundation - a national telephone survey with oversamples in Washington DC and New York City, and How America Responds - a national telephone survey implemented immediately by SRC following the events of September 11, 2001.
